Flexible and stainless metallic fibres for repairs to concrete water containment structures

FIBRAFLEX metallic fibres improve the mechanical properties and durability of the concrete and mortar used for repairs.
The "fibre + concrete" solution enables the repair of damaged structures which are in constant use such as :

Main sewers with inspection hatches

Storm water soak-aways

Waste water treatment plants

Dams

Water towers

Concrete pipes

Utilisation

The fibres are added to the concrete or mortar during the mixing of the dry components. The repair can then be effected :

Either by spraying the fibred concrete or mortar, as a dry or wet mix, using a standard shotcreting machine (Putzmeister®, Aliva®, etc.)

Or by casting the concrete in shuttering

Typical dosage : from 15 to 30 kg/m³

Example : a sewage pipe with a cracked sidewall
                 (H. 180 cm)

In this example the proposed solution is a sprayed wet mortar, reinforced with FIBRAFLEX FF20L6 fibres, to a thickness of 7 cm.

Advantages compared to using reinforcing mesh :

20% time gain in use

Directly spraying a fibred concrete, which is thus already reinforced, reduces the job time taken

Longer lasting

Using stainless reinforcing means that the repair will be extremely durable

Optimised hydraulicity

arrow

Spraying concrete reinforced with FIBRAFLEX fibres allows to reduce the thickness of the layer sprayed on and thus to limit the diminishing of hydraulicity

Advantages compared to using a GRP shell :

Cost-effectiveness

A repair using prefabricated shells is 35 % more expensive than a repair using a concrete or mortar reinforced with FIBRAFLEX fibres

Ease and safety of use

Due to their extreme flexibility, FIBRAFLEX metallic fibres can easily be sprayed on without any risk of splashback. A repair using fibred concrete is safer than a GRP shell for sewage workers when moving in the tunnels
